The bogus Daniel Devine formerly of Queensland but now living in Mandurah, Western Australia has been stinging the movie industry and those who support it, by offering international and local citizens investments in films he pretends to represent under the banner of JJ Syndicate. By sure you are not caught out by this fellow on the run. The swift-minded 74 year old 'chartered accountant' by day and 'psychic dinner host' by night accesses film project memorandums and then passes off as their representative, selling units in films he may have been ousted from, or never represented, to high earning individuals like doctors, attorneys, pilots and business owners. Daniel Devine has struck the industry bringing concern to the independent film production sector. Authorities first became aware of Mr Devine's affairs when it was reported by Mrs Veronica O'Connor and Mrs Kelly O'Connor, and later Mr Stephen Wall. Daniel Devine is believed to have coaxed more than $100,000 away from unsuspecting investors, by opening loan accounts for them, and then siphoning off the funds without passing these on to the film projects he is supposedly meant to be representing. Daniel Devine is also known for selling similar types of scheme-based investments in wine farms, teak tree plantations and the mining sector. In the interests of keeping the film industry safe, we ask that you keep an eye out for Daniel Devine, occasionally living with wife Dorothy Devine, by notifying the authorities at once, whether in the form of international or local major fraud police or industry associations. And please ALWAYS check with the film production company you have allegedly invested in to make sure that your investment has been recorded and acknowledged. Imaginites supports a film-development and film-production industry devoid of renegade cowboys. It's a challenge enough for legitimate production companies raising funds to have hacks injuring the industry at large. Queensland government has on record two filed issues with Daniel Devine. |

The first film in the long awaited Strongmen The Motion Picture Trilogy, Volume One strategically-titled "Lucky Break", is in an early phase of post production, even though some scenes still need to be shot, bringing the total number of shoot weeks to eleven weeks. The durable synthetic clad heros, who made their debut over a decade ago are niftier, smarter and more daring than ever. The early screenplays well known for tackling thorny subjects brought viewer expectations for the feature to a higher level. The Strongmen are the next wave in super-powered characters, unlike their competing predecessors, they do things a little differently. The as-yet unannounced supporting cast of the 120minute effects-laden multiple time-line storyline for a film will add value to the Strongmen franchise in unforseen ways. With movie sequel set tour passes up for grabs, when you buy the book, industry coverage critics are calling the pre-release novel "an ultra-cool high-octane rolercoaster ride"! A $10,000 cash prize giveaway entryform can also be found in the book. This incentive is aimed to stimulate the creative imagination of other producers into producing a short film. The winning short film will screen as the Opener when Strongmen is released internationally.

A Hollywood talent has been selected or 'knocked up' (as is termed in archery) for a part playing the Strongmen Longbow Archer character in IMAGINITES' new feature length film production, Strongmen Lucky Break for release in 2008. The US-resident African American rising star, who turned down a part in Blood Diamond because he felt the part only added fuel to the racial stereotype, has been selected from more than 200 hopefuls. Being involved in the five week shoot was a gruelling experience but an enjoyable one. Photo: Victor Grant

Underneath the momentus Cannes deals for 2007 are seismic shifts in finance-cap utilisation. The fusion of output-large corporates in the filmgame seems to be at an all time premium, and the newer companies like IMAGINITES have become popular because they drive large collective film catalogues, and are bidding to be truly international distribution companies. As Hollywood Reporter has pointed out - private equity finance is sweeping through the US studios at an unfathomable rate. The problem for hedge funds has always been volume - they need to fund a smaller number of big pictures, which is the reverse of the normal risk management logic, which is a level companies outside the US rarely operate at. Now the funds reckon they can offer fringe independents the next-level of growth. It's easy to see why the New Equity film deal has become so interesting to the money merchants. The new face of the production-distribution-exhibition model will henceforth have to operate at this scale. The industry will never babble about an unstable cinema market again - at least for a decade or two anyhow. |

In keeping with IMAGINITES' community mission statement to 'add value to the lives of young people around the world', IMAGINITES has set aside a monthly budget to meet the needs of community groups, including schools, special interest groups and associations. An example of such a need might be: a community group requiring the building of a community centre with a theatre for youngsters to develop their performing talents; or a cinema for the screening of films by first-time filmmakers. Other not so direct needs might be a school's need for media resources, or computer systems. IMAGINITES has partnerships with corporate enterprises all over the world and can more easily assist in meet a need. If you have a need that transcends what a local-gov subsidy can offer, IMAGINITES will consider the proposal and the group it best serves. To participate in this initiative, put your proposal in writing, expressing the need you or your community, group or school have got and highlight what you would do with the funds and/or products and services. Your fully-outlined proposal must be emailed to IMAGINITES in the form of an expression of interest. In all instances, please submit contact details and references when applying. Replies may take several weeks to process. |
