43rd Worldfest Film Festival Presents Gold Remi Award to Chick Flick
Chick Flick: Alpha Male falls into its own category being a dating comedy. It was created in an unconventional way using a style of photography first introduced into the commercials of Michael Garcia, who once produced for directors like Sundstrom and Speros, but then went on to direct his own production including a plethora of car commercials for companies like Toyota, Honda, and US cars. Garcia recalls, "Many of the commercials I was assigned to produce were made up of complex visuals I'd pitched agencies. I soon landed up with having to take over from the directors I'd hired. They got the credit but there was a behind-the-scenes reality. This was especially so on really intense commercials where I had to fly crews around country landmarks, only to suddenly realise a director was out of his depth thousands of miles from rescue. Fortunately, as my assistant producers at the time Greg and Maxine were to recall, I had to take over and shoot the productions to the required spec - mostly so that the agencies continued to hire us. I learned some valuable lessons about how to be extremely economical and creative on a film set. All of these lessons were going to come to good use on Chick Flick: Alpha Male."
CHICK FLICK: ALPHA MALE wins GOLD REMI at WORLDFEST Houston Texas
CHICK FLICK: ALPHA MALE has won a GOLD REMI at the prestigious Houston Texas film festival WORLDFEST, the longest and oldest running film festival in the world. The film was officially selected by a panel of industry professionals, and then nominated for a gold Remi award, which it then won. Worldfest is the same festival at which George Lucas and Steven Spielberg first showcased their films (www.worldfest.org). After almost a year in production and in editing and post production, and after a protracted "re-edit", IMAGINITES has finally released CHICK FLICK: ALPHA MALE, starring Debbie Dreschler and Gabriel Cruz. CHICK FLICK: ALPHA MALE has been invited to other international film festivals in 2010.
In Memorium
It is with regret and deep sadness that the producers of STRONGMEN mourn the loss of Roelof Verster, who sadly passed away at 11am Sunday 28th March 2010 after having been diagnosed with cancer four months ago. He played a pivotal role in the development and support of the project. He will be sorely missed by all who knew this wonderful man and supporter of the STRONGMEN TV series and feature film. God bless Roelof and all the many things he did along the way. If there ever was an avid supporter of the producer-director team it was him. The film will be dedicated to this great and noble man, who regularly traveled continents to keep abreast of progress. "Sir, you are already missed." In loving memory, Roelof Verster, 1935-2010.
Strongmen Lucky Break UPDATE
The first film in the long awaited Strongmen The Motion Picture Trilogy, Volume One strategically-titled "Lucky Break", is in an early phase of post production, even though some scenes still need to be shot, bringing the total number of shoot weeks to eleven weeks. The durable synthetic clad heroes, who made their debut over a decade ago are niftier, smarter and more daring than ever. The early screenplays well known for tackling thorny subjects brought viewer expectations for the feature to a higher level. The Strongmen are the next wave in super-powered characters, unlike their competing predecessors, they do things a little differently. The announced supporting cast of the 120minute effects-laden multiple time-line storyline for a film will add value to the Strongmen franchise in unforeseen ways. They include Jensen, Bonser, Grant, Peters, Ward, Macri and the Garcia Brothers. The film is eighty percent in the can, with additional photography starting up again next month. Because editing and computer animation go hand in hand, the post production process is moving along like two lines of opposing railway track hoping to meet exactly sometime on completion. With movie sequel set tour passes up for grabs, when you buy the book, industry coverage critics are calling the pre-release novel "an ultra-cool high-octane rolercoaster ride"! A $10,000 cash prize giveaway entryform can also be found in the book. This incentive is aimed to stimulate the creative imagination of other producers into producing a short film. The winning short film will screen as the Opener when Strongmen is released internationally.

Knocking For New Archer
A Hollywood talent has been selected or 'knocked up' (as is termed in archery) for a part playing the Strongmen Longbow Archer character in IMAGINITES' new feature length film production, Strongmen Lucky Break for release in 2008. The US-resident African American rising star, who turned down a part in Blood Diamond because he felt the part only added fuel to the racial stereotype, has been selected from more than 200 hopefuls. Being involved in the five week shoot was a gruelling experience but an enjoyable one. Photo: Victor Grant
